We are excited to update you with the latest progress of the IN-PREP Project since our last Newsletter in December 2019.
Covid-19 has changed the way people are working and IN-PREP is no different, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic we have had to delay our final two full-scale exercises (FSX) until later in 2020.We look forward to updating you with information on the rescheduled exercises as soon as it is available.
We hope that you, your family and your colleagues are keeping safe and well and we hope to see you soon at our future events before the IN-PREP Project concludes in February 2021.
Meanwhile, work on the Project: our Mixed Reality Preparedness Platform (MRPP) and Crisis Management Handbook continues. Please find below the latest updates on all things IN-PREP.
What is IN-PREP?
Effective disaster planning and applied response rely on practising scenarios and making sense of the situation in a rapidly changing scenario so that appropriate response can be offered with accuracy and speed. Both evidence and research reveals
Insufficient links between agencies during crises
A lack of training capabilities to prepare different agencies across countries to work together during transboundary crises
IN-PREP is creating a preparedness system for training which includes:
The Mixed Reality Preparedness Platform MRPP – a novel IT based training platform that can exchange information with C2 systems
Training modules to facilitate transboundary preparedness
A Crisis Management Handbook for all agencies
The MRPP will be interoperable, connected with existing systems used across Europe. It will be an end-to-end crisis management training system facilitating augmented reality scenarios on multiple levels. More detailed information may be found at www.IN-PREP.eu
IN-PREP Training Materials
We are currently developing a number of training videos which will provide users with a greater knowledge and understanding of how the IN-PREP tools work and how they can be used in transboundary training and planning scenarios.
While these are being developed, we have created a new section of the IN-PREP website here which includes summary training material for some of the individual tools as well as an overall introduction into the IN-PREP Project.
The IN-PREP YouTube channel features highlight videos from our first 3 TTXs in addition to interviews with participants and experts from local agencies. Check out the playlists we have created for Spoleto, Savona and Kampen.
IN-PREP TTXs and FSXs
The IN-PREP website features individual sections for the first 3 table-top exercises (TTX) of the Project including highlight videos, images and media coverage of each exercise.
Further information on the 1st full-scale exercise (FSX) which took place in Belfast, Northern Ireland in December, in addition to the upcoming exercises in Savona, Italy and Rhodes, Greece will be posted over the coming weeks and months.
IN-PREP Publications
The IN-PREP website includes research carried out by Project partners on issues relevant to transboundary disaster planning and crisis management. Please find below a short selection of publications from our partners.
You can find more publications from IN-PREP Project Partners by visiting the Publications section of the IN-PREP website here.
We recently issued a press release in support of CNVVF’s research outlining how EU research projects have helped to improve the response of emergency services to Covid-19. Check out the press release in our news sectionhere.
IN-PREP Handbook
Among the most important outputs of the IN-PREP Project will be our Cross-Organisational Handbook of Preparedness and Response Planning.
The purpose of the Handbook is to bring together practices in civil protection related cross-organisational collaboration. It will provide domestic and international examples and will showcase how IN-PREP’s Mixed Reality Preparedness Platform can improve disaster response planning and training.
We will continue to provide updates on our Handbook as it is being developed.
IN-PREP User Advisory Board
Have you heard about IN-PREP’s User Advisory Board? The UAB is helping to improve in the development of IN-PREP’s tools and Handbook and to utilize the expertise of end-users from agencies across Europe. For more information on the UAB visit the IN-PREP website here.
We warmly encourage you to participate in the IN-PREP User Advisory Board. You will have opportunities to interact with the end user community and have an overview of IN-PREP achievements in research and training activities. Please send us an email getinvolved@lists.in-prep.eu
