Who they are
The core responsibility of the German Police University is to provide the German police services with first-class education and training opportunities for senior police officers. Funding is provided through the German Federal Republic and the Federal States. The University is the most important forum for discussing matters of policing in Germany and is actively involved in security research on a national, EU and international level.
How they are organised
The University’s fifteen units train senior police officers in the accredited M.A. Course “Public Administration – Police Management”. In addition to the M.A. course, the DHPol conducts user-oriented, customised and state of the art further training courses. Internationally, the university cooperates within the network of police universities.
Their expertise
For the IN-PREP project, DHPol expertise is focused on police crisis management and police operational training which includes threat, crisis and disaster management; civil protection and cooperation and collaboration with other rescue and emergency services.
Role in the project
The DHPol supports the IN-PREP exercises and demonstrations with a specific focus on the definition of the evaluation protocol and key performance indicators (KPIs). They support the end users/stakeholder recruitment process and the collection of end-user requirements. They also contribute to the final IN-PREP evaluation and the Crisis Management Handbook.
